The increasing presence of technology in today’s classrooms presents a unique learning paradigm. While technology in class offers inestimable opportunities for learning and participation, moderation in technology use is vital to achieve this end. Exposing students to too much technology can have a negative impact on attention span and critical thinking capabilities. On the other hand, underutilization will make students incapable of coping with a technology-driven world.

The trick is to integrate effectively. Technology is a tool to augment good teaching practices rather than displace them. Simulations, educational apps, and research can make learning more engaging and personalized. But one must not forget to nurture basic skill sets such as writing, personal interaction, and problem-solving capability.

Teachers have a very important role to play in achieving this balance. Teachers need to work on selecting content online very carefully and developing class activities with technology integration in mind. They need to teach children how to make better use of technology. Teachers need to mix and match technology with other methodologies in order to create a learning atmosphere where children can become 21st-century learners. The objective is to teach children to make sense of technology in a creative manner, in addition to developing a passion for learning in them that goes beyond technology.
